Hello! I’m Melissa Garrett.

For more than 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of tutoring, mentoring, and supporting students with a wide variety of learning needs, abilities, and educational goals.
I believe learning works best when students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and discovering what works for them. Every student is different, so I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I adapt my instruction to the individual student—meeting them where they are, building on their strengths, and helping them develop the skills they need to move forward.

In addition to academic tutoring, I offer hands-on enrichment classes in Science, Cooking, and Crafting, giving students opportunities to learn, create, experiment, and build practical skills outside of traditional academics.
I work with students from public, private, charter, and homeschool programs, with both in-person and online options available.

SAFETY & TRAINING
I have completed Live Scan background checks through both the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI, as well as Mandated Reporter Training and VIRTUS Training through the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

#Adulting 101: my class, "that's fire!" all the high school kids want to sign up for. Geared at helping high school students ready themselves for that next new chapter in their lives, adulthood. Class meets four times a month in and around Glendora, San Dimas, Azusa, and Covina.

I provide instruction along with an emailed materials list and grade level appropriate lab report to be filled out by the student.
Parents are contacted on Sundays via text message to get a head count for lab.
Zoom links will be sent by text 15 minutes prior to class.
All students will be put into a waiting room until the session begins.
All materials and tools should be prepared and ready to go before class starts.
Lab reports will be emailed the morning of lab.
Parents must always be nearby to ensure safety.
Cooking Class
TK-12th
$20/ class / student 3 classes a month, Fridays
Classes run between 1- 2 hours in length, start time to be determined.
I provide instruction along with an emailed materials/tools list.

Crafting Class

A wonderfully fun and creative crafting class. Classes run between 1-2 hours in length, start time to be determined I provide instruction along with an emailed materials/tools list. Parents must be nearby. Parents are contacted on Sundays via text message to get a head count for class. Instructions will be emailed the morning of class if parent has not canceled.
